The management and staff of MTN Ghana in partnership with the National Youth Authority (NYA)on Monday 2nd June officially launched it’s annual staff volunteering programme dubbed “21 Days of Y’ello Care” which is aimed at empowering the youth to make positive impact in the society under series of activities.

 

 


This year’s programme is expected to benefit over 400 unemployed youth and would consist of activities such as skills development and training in bead making, hair-dressing, make-up arts and other construction works with the theme, “Creating a Brighter Future for Our Youth”.

 

 

 


Beneficiaries of this year’s 21 days of Y’ello Care would also be trained in Information Technology, digital marketing, customer care services, entrepreneurship skills, financial management amongst others.

 

 


The programme would also empower and inspire inmates to the Senior Correctional Centres and Rehabilitation Centres to identify their capabilities and work towards achieving them.
MTN Sales General manager in charge of the Northern sector, Nii Adortey Mingle who launched the programme stated that there was a need for Corporate entities to empower the youth in the society with employable skills.

 

 


According to him, the ’21 Days of Y’ello Care’ is a challenge within the MTN Group hence in order for MTN Ghana to be outstanding, it needed full staff participation.
We will have to commit to translating our hopes into reality and show up in maximum numbers as volunteers. There is no doubt we all have a maximum and critical role to play to make this programme a success, he added.
The Northern sector sales General manager urged staff of MTN Ghana to dedicate time for the programme to make it a fruitful and inspiring.

Ashanti regional Director for the National Youth Authority (NYA) lauded MTN for such a step and initiative they had taken to empower the youth, stating that MTN’s decision to partner NYA was a great step in the right direction and assured that the programme would be fruitful.
According to him, reduction of unemployed rate especially among the youth should not be a sole responsibility of government but also private entities and Corporate institutions therefore urges that other private bodies emulate MTN to help create more jobs for the youth for the development of Ghana.

Ramadan Donation
Ahead of the 2019 Ramadan break, the MTN Ghana however visited the Kumasi Central Mosque to make a donation to Muslim brothers in support of this year’s Eid.
A cash donation of GHC 10,000, bags of rice, assorted drinks, cartoons vegetable oil, boxes of mineral water and a Ram were given to the Muslim community.
Presenting the items was Senior Manager for General Trading Northern sector at MTN Ghana Mr. Simon Amoh stated that they have been compelled to take the step to honour their Muslim brothers and sisters, support and wish them well in the Eidul Fitr celebration.
Speaking at a short and colourful ceremony at the Kumasi Central Mosque, Mr Amoh explained that for the past years, they have consistently supported Muslims during Eidul Fitr celebrations by way of donations and holding events to spice up the celebration.
Spoke person for the Kumasi Central Mosque Mohammed Issah who received the items of on behalf of the Chief Imam thanked and prayed for Allah’s blessing and protection for MTN Ghana and it’s staff for the kindness.
