A group calling itself the Concerned Citizens of Elmina have rained curses on government and the Bank of Ghana (BoG) for closing down GN Savings and Loans and persecuting their illustrious son, Dr Paa Kwesi Nduom.

The group took to the streets on Wednesday morning to protest against the government over what they say is deliberate attempts to collapse the businesses of Dr Paa Kwesi Nduom.

According to the group, the government has deliberately decided to persecute their illustrious son, by attacking and destroying his reputation for personal and political reasons.

Speaking in an interview during a demonstration against the government and BoG for the recent closure of GN Savings and Loans along with 23 others recently, the residents said they have never had an entrepreneur or an illustrious son in the land, cast in the mode of Nduom.

The group in a petition to President Akufo-Addo is demanding government pays the GHc2.2 billion it owes Dr Nduom to enable him to pay his customers.

While closing local banks, the government provided support for five banks to meet the GHC400 million minimum capital requirements including three private ones so why close down GN Bank, particularly when the government owes GN bank some GHC2.2 billion, a member of the group quizzed.

We want GN Bank’s license to be restored else the gods of Elmina will bring trouble to this government and BoG for persecuting Dr Nduom, the group threatened.
