Audio: Couple poison themselves after 10 years of bareness

A Couple who live in Awutu Papaase No 2 in the Awutu Senya West Constituency of the Central Region have left residents in shock after they poisoned themselves over their inability to give birth after ten years of marriage.

 

According to the police, their preliminary investigations revealed that the couple took a poisonous substance due to pressure coming from family, friends and loved ones.

In an interview with Adom news, the Awutu Ofaakor District Police Commander, DSP Christopher Darkey who confirmed the news said the father of the deceased; Godwin Adamu, came to the station to report the news.

“Mr Adamu who is the father of the man came to tell us his son, Nicholas Larbi, 34 and his wife, Sarah Ofori, have locked themselves since morning. So we rushed to the scene and found out the husband was dead while the woman was also battling for breath,” he said.

They were rushed to the Agona Swedru Government Hospital where the woman was also pronounced dead.

DSP Christopher Darkey has, however, advised couples not to allow societal pressures to control their marriage lives, revealing that the woman has suffered about 7 miscarriages.
