Police at Asawase in Kumasi have arrested a driver of a commercial Nissan Urvan bus with registration number GR 3251-12 for trying to sell as a scrap without the consent of the owner .
According to the police who confirmed the incident to MyNewsGh.com, the suspect offered to sell the vehicle which is road worthy to scrap dealers at GH¢15,000 raising suspicion
Two of the scrap dealers at Aboabo Extension, therefore called at the Asawase station of how the unnamed young man drove to their shop and offered for sale the red Nissan Urvan bus.
In the police account, they suspected the vehicle to have been stolen and as such wanted Police action.
Police followed up and arrested the suspect together with the vehicle to the station but in his caution statement, the suspect claimed he is the driver of the vehicle with one Kumi, an electrician at Alajo as owner but drove the vehicle to Kumasi on same day without the consent of the owner to look for a conductor (mate) to be assisting him back in Accra.
Police reveal that the incoherence in his account gives rise to suspicion that the vehicle indeed may have been stolen.
He has therefore been placed in police custody assisting investigation.
