Hawa Koomson’s gun retrieved; case referred to CID

Information available to MyNewsGh.com indicates that the gun of the Minister for Special Development Initiatives, Hawa Koomson have been seized by the Police in the Central Region.

This was after she honoured an invitation of the Central Regional Police Headquarters on Friday, July 24, 2020.

According information available from the Police, the statement of the lawmaker was taken when she honoured the invitation in the company of her lawyers.

Currently, her docket has been forwarded to the National Headquarters of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Ghana Police Service.

Hawa Koomason has since Monday, July 20 come under immense attack for admitting to have fired warning shots at one of the registration centers in the Awutu Senya East Constituency where she is Member of Parliament.

Although her Political Party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) sees nothing wrong with her action, Civil society organizations like IMANI, ASEPA have called on the President to sack the Minister for shooting at a registration centre.

The Minister’s action has been condemned by the ChristianCouncil and even the peace council which has also called on her to do the honourable thing by resigning from her honourable position.

The President of Ghana is yet to comment on the issue as he has travelled out of the country and is in Mali on an international assignment.
