Seventeen (17) year-old Richard Adarkwaa who led a 3-man robbery operation and benefited only GH¢50 from the GH¢900 booty is currently serving a 15-year jail term at the Sekondi Central Prison.
Recounting his bitter past and regrets for agreeing to lead his accomplices who are enjoying their freedom to rob his former employer, the convict revealed that GH¢50 was given to him to replace his torn pair of slippers while escaping from the crime scene.
According to him in an interview granted Crime Check TV and monitored by MyNewsGh.com, he rushed to a nearby shop for the slippers but upon his return, he realized that the other two had bolted with the money.
This he revealed, happened moments after he had requested for his share of the GH¢900 but he was told to exercise restraint and that the money will be shared when they move from Sefwi Bekwai to Kumasi.
He indicated that he was arrested on the same day of the robbery operation which was his first attempt because somebody had seen them run into the bush to seek refuge.
Richard Adarkwaa recalled that being a 17-year-old, he was the youngest among the armed robbers when they went on the operation.
‘Two of my friends brought the idea that we should rob the Chinese company I was working with because Christmas was approaching. My boss always carried money on him so I agreed to the idea. But they later bolted away with the money. I get sad because I was arrested and sentenced 15 years without having my share of the money. Those who had the money are living their free life’.
He said a day before the operation, he lied to his boss who is a Chinese that he was sick so he did not go to work only to be arrested as the mastermind which shocked his colleagues.
