The rescued Canadians, Lauren Tilley and Bailey Chitty, 19 and 20 years respectively who were kidnapped over a week ago have been flown out of Ghana.

MyNewsGh.com checks reveal that the two volunteers left Ghana last Wednesday June 12, 2019 the same day they were freed by British Airways.

They were subsequently transported by a private jet from London to Canada where they have since reunited with their families.

The victims are said to be volunteers with the group Youth Challenge International, a Canadian international development organisation with its headquarters in Toronto.

The group works in 16 countries across South America, Africa and Asia, working to support development projects for young people in areas such as health, education and employment.

Lauren Tilley and Bailey Chitty were therefore assigned to Kumasi but were kidnapped at Ahodwo, Kumasi Royal Golf Club, at 8.25pm on 4 June 2019.

Following the unfortunate incident, Canadian nationals in Ghana have been alerted of violent crimes in the country including armed robbery and kidnapping and urged them not to show any signs of wealth.

Meanwhile, eight persons who masterminded the kidnapping have all been arrested by the police and are undergoing interrogation by police investigators.

The suspects include Nigerians and their Ghanaian counterparts including Asante Kotoko’s notorious supporter, Seidu Yakubu Mba.

According to the Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah who briefed the media last Wednesday covered by MyNewsGh.com, the crime was perpetrated by 5 Ghanaians and 3 Nigerians but said a Nigerian led the whole operation.
