The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) has disclosed that it has received GH¢ 1 million to, from Monday, start paying the uncompensated surviving victims of the June 3 disaster after four years of the incident.

According to the Director of Communications at NADMO, George Kojo Ayisi, a total of GH¢1, 030,000 will be distributed to surviving victims and families of the deceased.

“For the 15 who lost their lives, their relatives are taking their compensation for them. The 40 who had injuries but were not given anything the first time, they will be given GH¢ 10,000.00 each and those who lost their lives, their families will be given GH ¢10, 000.00 each. There are 26 others with minor injuries who will be taking GH¢ 5, 000.00,” he disclosed on Accra-based Citi FM, monitored by Adomonline.

The Accra Metropolitan Assembly in August 2018 said it had paid GH¢10, 000.00 each to 80 percent of the victims of the June 3 disaster.

The beneficiaries were among hundreds of people who sustained various degrees of injuries in an explosion at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle branch of GOIL fuel station in Accra which killed more than 150 people.
