Policeman in deadly Kintampo-Tamale highway accident identified

One of deceased persons in the deadly Kintampo-Tamale highway accident who happened to be a policeman has been identified, MyNewsGh.com can confirm.

Nagroug Emmanuel Yen, a policeman stationed at Suhum in the Suhum Municipality of the Eastern Region, was among 12 occupants of the Grandbird Kia bus with registration number with GT 5059-1.

Constable Nagroug Emmanuel Yen and his brother Yenbone Maambey from Zua in the Nabdam District of the Upper East Region joined the vehicle at Kongo.

According to the survivor, his brother who had come for holidays was returning to his duty post while he was heading to Techiman to purchase some goods before the ghastly accident.

The body of the deceased has since been deposited at the Kintampo Government Hospital morgue while efforts are underway to identify the other charred bodies of the victims.

About 30 people were burnt to death in the accident that occurred between Dawadawa number 2 and Kawampe in the Kintampo North District of the Bono East Region on Monday dawn.

According to the Divisional Commander of  Kintampo North Municipal Motor Transport and Traffic Directorate (MTTD) DSP Francis Adjei Brobey, 6 persons were reported to have died from the Grandbird Kia bus that was conveying Tomatoes, Garden Eggs, pepper  and cashew nuts from Bawku in the Upper East Region and heading South of Ghana.

While the Sprinter Benz with registration number AS 1801-18 with 23 passengers onboard lost all the occupants after the vehicle believed to be heading to the North from Techiman collided with the bus from the opposite direction and went up in flames.
