The Accra Regional Police Operations command and personnel from the Weija Division have arrested eight armed land guards at Tuba on the Kasoa road in the Central region.

The Director of Operations at the Ghana Police Service, Greater Accra, DSP Kwasi Ofori, told Joy News after the arrest that personnel embarked on special operations aimed at arresting land guards in the area.

He said the land guards were seen fighting among themselves over land and other property.

He said there was sporadic firing and violence but because of their (police) professionalism, eight were arrested.

DSP Ofori said it took the police about two hours to subdue them and had them arrested.

The police, he noted, managed to retrieve two weapons; pump action gun, pistol and over three hundred ammunitions, indian hemp and other adapted implements meant to cause harm.

DSP Ofori warned that the war against land guards had started and that whoever is involved in the illicit business in Accra and its environs would be smoked out.

“We are ready for them and nothing will deter us from discharging our duties,” he assured.
