(Video/pictures) A/R : Fire destroys over 16 shops at Bekwai

About 16 shops have been raised down by a heavy fire outbreak at Bekwai in the Ashanti Region, brightwebtv.com can confirm.
According to an eyewitness Ofori Boateng who confirmed the sad incident to brightwebtv.com said the fire started about 5pm Monday, 6 January 2020 which destroyed a lot of properties worth thousands of Ghana cedis.

The incident occurred just inbetween the Ghana commercial Bank and the old SNNIT building.

 

According to the coordinator for National Disaster Management Organization ( NADMO) in the Bekwai Municipality, Mr. Atta Adusei in an exclusive interview with brightwebtv.com correspondent ofori  said, the firefighters were called to the scene but due to the congestion in the area the fire suddenly swept through the shops in the area which destroys a number of shops including supermarkets, refrigeration shops pharmacy shop among others.

 

 

It took the fire officers about three hours before they were able to put the fire off.

Items including empty sacks, cosmetic products as well as clothes were burnt in the fire.
He added that, the official cause of the fire is not yet known but investigations have begun into the incident.
