The Asante Akim Central Municipal Police Command is currently under siege following the death of two persons in a car crash, MyNewsGh.com reports.
A section of the (N6) Kumasi-Accra Highway has been blocked by demonstrators, causing huge vehicular traffic on that stretch.
Locals are demanding the release of some mechanics who have been arrested after vandalizing the offices of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) at the capital’s main lorry terminal
There has been tension in the town since yesterday September 18, 2019 after two mechanics died in a motor accident.
They say the car in which the mechanics were travelling on was being given a hot chase by a taskforce of the GPRTU for wrongful parking which resulted in the accident leading to the death of the two.
According to the police, the vehicle collided with a KIA truck, killing the two mechanics on the spot while other occupants sustained severe injuries.
