ACP Dr Benjamin Agordzor, Director of Transformational Programme Office at the Police Service

The Director of Transformational Programme Office at the Police Service, ACP Dr Benjamin Agordzor, charged with treason for his alleged involvement in a coup plot, is on hunger strike.

His decision, according to his lawyer, Martin Kpebu is to establish his innocence on the allegation leveled against him.

ACP Agordzor was on Monday November 4, 2019 denied bail and detained in BNI custody overnight.

He has been accused of communicating with the alleged coup plotters whom the government said had been cooking an elaborate plan to destabilise the country.

But, his lawyer, Mr Kpebu on Adom News said his client has denied an involvement in the coup plot.

He also accused the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) of infringing on the fundamental human right of his client after denying his family access to see him.

“I’m shocked at the conduct of the BNI; they are behaving as if we are in 1979. Ah I’m really surprised,”

The lawyer said he is working frantically to get bail for his client who has refused to eat until he is released.

Meanwhile, ACP Agordzor will be put before the Kaneshie District Court on Wednesday November 6, 2019.
