Assembly Member for Buoku electoral, Honourable Mustapha Musah disclosed to MyNewsGh.com that the fire started as a result of bushfire on Monday at about 1:30 pm while most of the residents were still in their farms.
Properties damaged in the disaster included an undisclosed sum of money, radio sets cooking utensils, clothing amongst other valuables
Mr Mustapha Musah explained that the fire that has rendered hundreds of residents homeless could have been doused if the community had enough water to fight it.
“The inferno was not beyond us to control but there was no water to fight the fire” the Assemblyman noted.
He has therefore appealed to the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Wenchi Dr Prince Kwakye Afiriyie, the Member of Parliament (MP) and Minister of Planning Professor George Gyan-Baffour and other benevolent Ghanaians to come to the aid of the residents as they have lost a lot.
“We are pleading with the MCE and the MP to critically look at the water situation with the immediate effect and also help provide temporary shelter for the displaced persons”, he begged.
