Mr. Gregory Afoko, the man accused of the murder of Mr. Adams Mahama former Upper East Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) yesterday descended on a police prosecutor at an Accra District Court, MyNewsGh.com has filed.

He accused him of deliberately polishing lies and embellishing them just to have him jailed wondering what his motivation is for embarking on such a path.
A livid accused person also took on the Ghana Police Service for being dishonest in the discharge of its duties by piling false accusations on him as though he indeed committed the act when they themselves brought in 14 witnesses who have all failed to prove the charge.
The Attorney General on Monday January 28, 2019 filed a “nolle prosequi”, which is a decline of interest in the case and later rearrested the suspect to be charged alongside one Asabke Alangde following his arrest last weekend.

Making their first appearance in court, Gregory Afoko became furious and while being taken into his vehicle was heard shouting “This man was there, 14 witnesses withdrawn and you are still polishing those lies.

They are wicked…I have not done anything. I have not plan with this boy to do anything. Why do you treat me like this…it is bad? You can treat human like this. Be honest to yourselves this country…police be honest you are lying. Stop the lies. Am I killing Adams to take his trousers or shirt? Why do you people like twisting the story…Oh Ghana it is a shame”.
Meanwhile the family has described the latest move by the state as a travesty of justice considering the fact that the accused has unjustifiably served almost four (4) years in detention.

“The trial of our son was set to end next month after Gregory had maintained his innocence in the matter right from day one. We were very optimistic, after following the trial closely, that Gregory was going to be acquitted and discharged to enjoy his freedom barring any last-minute behind-the-scene pulling of strings to skew judgment against our son.

Our worst fears were confirmed  yesterday when we heard that the Attorney-Generalss Office had filed a Nolle Prosequai  discontinuing with  the case and hoping to  start afresh following the alleged arrest of a suspect, one Asabke Alangde. The hasty manner in which the “nolle prosequi” was filed and the accused dragged out of the Nsawam Medium Security Prisons last night only in his shorts and thrown into BNI cells thereafter without affording him the opportunity of even anybody  including his lawyers deepened our suspicion that some unseen hands are bent on finding him guilty at all cost.

This is a travesty of justice for our son and brother who aside from suffering for the past 4 years, will have to go through further trauma just because some people in authority have already convicted him even before the courts give their verdict”, they said in a statement signed by Robert Atong Asekabta who is the head of the Ayieta family.

They have promised to stand by their relative and offer him maximum support until he gets the true justice every Ghanaian deserves.
