The Minister of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng is surprised about the noise that has characterised the supposed introduction of Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) into basic school curriculum in the next academic year.

According to him, the document has been in existence for over five years, thus, finds it surprising critics are playing the ostrich.

“I heard about CSE five years ago and no religious leader and political party can tell me they don’t know about the existence of that document,” he said on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme, Friday.

Government has said it has no intention to introduce CSE in schools after public outrage. The Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council earlier threatened a massive demonstration.

They feared the policy could be a long term subtle agenda to target the young population with a liberal mindset to accepting and tolerating Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) as a normal societal behaviour in the very near future.

But, Prof. Frimpong-Boateng said the pastors are fighting against a non-existent agenda.

He explained that, the Akufo-Addo-led administration will not promote anything which is against the Ghanaian norms and values.

“The pastors should hold their fire because there is nothing to withdraw. President Akufo-Addo will make CSE culturally sensitive to Ghana,” he said.

Prof Frimpong-Boateng stressed that the government’s objective is to promote a homegrown policy on sexuality devoid of all subtle external influence.
