Coronavirus cases rise to 21 in Ghana

Ghana has recorded new Coronavirus cases

Ghana records two new cases of COVID-19 with 1 death leaving the existing case count in the country to be 21.

The number of active cases, however, is 20.

Prior to this new development, the Ghana Health Service reported three new cases earlier on Saturday pushing the figure to 19.

One of the patients, a 61-year-old Lebanese male trader and resident in Kumasi is said to have an underlying health problem, however, died in the Ashanti Region.

According to the Ghana Health Service, the deceased reported to a health facility in Kumasi with a fever and cough.

His temperature was 39.4 degrees Celcius.

At least three out of the 21 cases have been suspected to be community spread.

The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, earlier in his broadcast to the nation urged Ghanaians to respect World Health Organization’s protocols in the fight against the spread of novel Coronavirus.

He said the masses should avoid what he described as “unnecessary body contact and stop shaking hands” to avoid the spread of the Coronavirus.

Mr Akufo-Addo, further urged the pharmaceutical companies to scale up domestic production of pharmaceutical products such as hand sanitizers to help halt the spread of the virus.
