Crush anti-peace ‘conflictprenuers’ in Dagbon – Akufo-Addo

President Nana Akufo-Addo has called on the people of Dagbon to deal with individuals and entities who benefit from conflicts and as such are opposed to the peace processes in Dagbon as well as the enskinment of a new Ya Na.

According to Mr Akufo-Addo, there are people from Dagbon who were happy about the deadly conflict which plunged Dagbon into chaos for more than a decade due to their selfish interests.

He noted that these individuals are not happy with the progress achieved so far that has resulted in the enskinment of a new Overlord of Dagbon.

Nana Akufo-Addo, therefore, called on the people of Dagbon to work hard to protect the peace that has been restored, leading to the installation of a new Ya Na.

“There are a handful of people who have benefitted for a long time from the conflict and never wanted to see it end. We are not to rest on our oars and assume that every citizen of Dagbon is elated about the enskinment of a new Ya Na. Indeed, there is a new term for people who profit from conflict. They are called ‘confictpreneurs’. We have to be resolute in warding off such people by strengthening the process of reconciliation among the people of Dagbon,” Mr Akufo-Addo said in his speech at the investiture of the new Ya Na at the Gbewaa Palace in Yendi in the Northern Region on Friday, 25 January 2019.

Mr Akufo-Addo further congratulated the new Overlord of Dagbon, Ya Na Abukari Mahama II and expressed his confidence that the new King will unite the Dagbon state and bring development to the area.

Mr Akufo-Addo further thanked the Committee of Eminent Chiefs led by the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the people from the Andani and Abudu royal families who ensured a resolution to the conflict and all other actors in the peace process.
