The family members of Abdul Wasihu Iddrisu, the man who was shot dead at the Ashanti Regional Headquarters of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) last month have resigned en bloc from the party, MyNewsGh.com has reported.

The Asawase Constituency chairman of the party, Alhaji Musah Abubakari who confirmed the resignation on Kumasi-based Nhyira FM on Wednesday March 20, 2019 during an interview monitored by MyNewsGh.com said, the development is worrying and a big blow to the umbrella family in the area.
According to the sister of the deceased, many family members have died as a result of their involvement with the NDC indicating that it was time the rest of them take cues and back out from the party to save the family from further deaths in similar fashion
“Our mother died because of NDC”, sister of the dead NDC Taskforce member revealed on  Nhyira FM at the back of complaints that the NDC party at the regional level has abandoned the deceased family.
The latest decision of the family is however in sharp contrast with what Abiba Iddrisu sister of the late Abdul Wasihu Iddrisu told an Accra-based radio station Kasapa Fm some few weeks ago that the family remain resolute in their love for the party and will continue to give their all to the party whether in good or bad times.
“We are not disappointed in the NDC party, as I said earlier on, Abdul Wasihu Iddrisu’s time to die was up and he died and we have no problem with that as a family. Just as Abdul Wasihu Iddrisu died because of his love for the NDC, his late father also died at a rally organized for John Mahama.

“So if our confidence in the NDC could ever wane, it would have been the time that our dear mother died. If we dare lose confidence in the NDC or leave the party our late father would be angry with us and will turn violently in his grave because he followed NDC to his grave.

“That fateful Monday even if he didn’t go out he would still have died because he was eating and then he suddenly decided to stop and rush to the party office,” she added.
Background
MyNewsGh.com last month broke the story about how one person was shot dead while another is nursing serious injuries and on admission at a health facility following an attack by a gunman who has been identified as Warrior
MyNewsGh.com’s Ashanti Regional reporter who was at the scene shortly after the incident, said the armed man believed to belong to the NDC’s Hawks appeared to have had some differences with the deceased and another which triggered the shooting and subsequent death of one and the injuring of other while the NDC Ashanti Regional executives were locked up in consultative meeting.
Present at the meeting were NDC Regional Executives as well National Chairman Samuel Ofosu Ampofo and General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia who run for their lives when the gunshots started.

The exact reason for the shooting that led to the death of Wasiu is still unknown but three of twelve persons declared wanted by the police in relation to the incident have surrendered and are being tried for their roles in the unfortunate incident.
