Breaking: CHAOS At GBC Over GH₵500,000 Judgement Debt

Tension is rapidly mounting at The Ghana Broadcasting Corporation in Accra over a “judgment debt” misunderstanding between management of the institution, some concerned staff and members of the local union.

Mynewsghana.net’s investigations have revealed that the current unrest is as a result of a petition the local union (Accra) submitted to management with regards to payments that were supposed to be made to members of a committee set up by management to investigate the judgment debt and it’s a calculation.

Reliable sources at the GBC further revealed to Mynewsghana.net that the person who caused the judgment debt and did the calculation for the payment of GH₵ 500,000 was also a member of the committee set up to investigate the judgment debt an action the local union describe as loot and share.

The case was captured by the auditor general and a directive was given that all culprits involved should be surcharged and punished accordingly which the management refused to adhere to.

Chairman and Secretary for the union Mr. Sam Nat Kevor and Mr. Bibini Nutor were therefore summoned for publishing documents of the judgment debt after which a committee was set up to punish the two union leaders. However, members of the union objected the committee’s orders saying the letter from the committee was not well addressed.

Speaking exclusively to Mynewsghana.net, member of the union explained that the Management then came again with another issue they described as “leakage of documents from the office of the acting director” an issue that is not enshrined in the Collective Agreement.

“There is nowhere that says that leakage of documents. Our executives attended the Disciplinary Committee where it was ruled that all issues concerning this case should be suspended pending the substantive case. For the past two weeks, We have had the information that management are coming up with their own review by demoting the two executives of the union by two steps and What I mean by two steps is after eight years working experience you are reducing them. So we decided to come out for the public to know what we are going through. This is just a way of creating loot and share.” He said

Further investigations by Mynewsghana.net also revealed that when the director of legal services was a private officer, who worked on the same issue and took GH₵ 5000 as a legal fee even though he could not complete the task.

Mynewsghana.net is keenly following the situation and would update it’s cherished readers of later developments.
