Groom dies few hours after tying the knot in Assin Fosu

A 30-year-old man, identified as Kwabena from Abura Funkwa, has died few hours after tying the knot at a ceremony at Assin Juaso, a suburb in the Assin Fosu Municipality of the Central region.

Information gathered by Adom News suggested that the groom was rushed to the hospital after he collapsed during the reception.

In an interview with Adom News, a relative of Cowbell, as he was popularly known, who expressed their shock at the incident, said the deceased helped with the entire preparation of the ceremony and did not look sick.

They already had two children from the relationship and planned their traditional wedding ceremony last Saturday.

“We all knew him to be healthy but when he was rushed to the hospital with series of laboratory tests carried out, the doctor informed us he had short of blood and needed blood to survive and we did all we could moving round to get people to donate blood for him,” they said.

According to another source, in the morning of the wedding, a strange snake appeared at the family house of the bride but was killed by occupants of the house.

Shortly after that, the source said three children in the house, including two of the couple’s children, collapsed but were later revived.

The source said the marriage ceremony continued normally until after the couple’s first dance at the reception.

The source said immediately after the couple’s dance the groom complained of pains in the stomach and collapsed afterwards.

He was rushed to the St Francis Xavier Hospital at Assin Fosu, but was pronounced dead later.

“We thought his condition had stabilised only for the doctors to declare him dead around 7:pm,” she narrated.

The body of the deceased has since been sent to the hospital mortuary.
