Abdul Malik Kweku Baako

The Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide Newspaper, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako, has said the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) claim that President Nana Akufo-Addo is running a family and friends government is for propaganda purposes.

He explained that, a year to the elections, the opposition party is just throwing this list of 51 people in the public domain to court bad press for the government.

The NDC released a list of 51 government appointees they believe are either family members or friends of the President.

This phenomenon is not exclusive to the NDC as the New Patriotic Party then in opposition also accused former President John Mahama of appointing his family and friends to key government positions.

They even alleged that, his own brother, Ibrahim Mahama was running a parallel government and awarding contracts – an allegation the NDC vehemently denied.

Now in opposition, the NDC sees it as a payback time and its Director of Communication, Sammy Gyamfi has served notice more names will soon drop.

But, Mr Baako on Accra-based Peace FM, Thursday said the list put out by the NDC has “some due diligence defect.”

He noted that if indeed President Akufo-Addo has engaged in any abuse of power, the NDC should have filed a petition at the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice.

“The NDC is inviting us to engage in propaganda masturbation. It’s an agenda because we are a year towards elections,” Mr Baako added.
