Audio: Lydia Alhassan breaks silence on ‘bloody widow’ placards

The newly elected New Patriotic Party (NPP) legislator for Ayawaso West Wuogon, Lydia Seyram Alhassan says she has forgiven the Minority for calling her a ‘bloody widow’.

According to her, she was not surprised about the placards hurled at her in Parliament because the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) had started the vile campaign after the death of her husband, Emmanuel Kyeremateng Agyarko.

The Minority in Parliament has received bad press after some of its members held placards with the inscription, ‘Bloody Widow’ after boycotting her swearing-in.

They justified their action and has refused to apologise to the Ayawaso West Wuogon legislator.

But Madam Alhassan in an exclusive interview on Adom News said she is not bothered about their actions.

She was however surprised her fellow women in the Minority caucus will join the men to cause her pain.

Lydia Alhassan described the action as a unfortunate but believes God will give her strengthen to champion the cause of her constituents in Parliament.

“I have forgiven them [Minority] and I ask the good Lord to forgive them too. Time will heal my wounds and time will tell my story” she added.

Meanwhile, Lydia Alhasan has donated ¢5000 to offset the hospital bills of some of the victims of last Thursday’s by-election shooting.
