One person has voluntarily opted out of the parliamentary primary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Sagnarigu Constituency of the Northern Region.

Director of Elections, Alhaji Mohammed Aminu Abio disclosed that Shahamudeen B. A Fuseini took the decision for reasons best known to him but pledged his unflinching support to the party ahead of the 2020 polls.

He disclosed that he is the son of the late Alhaji B.A Fuseini who was with the NDC but later defected to the NPP.

In all, 56 out of 56 aspirants have been given the nod after vetting on Thursday to contest in all the 31 constituencies in the region with Minority leader Haruna Iddrisu of Tamale South, Hon Alhassan S. Dandawa of Karaga and Mr Abdul Fatawu of Yendi constituency going unopposed.

The vetting process MyNewsGh.com gathered was chaired by General Secretary of the NDC Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia and supported by a former Governor of the Bank of Ghana Dr Abdul Nashiru Issahaku.

Meanwhile, Haruna Iddrisu has urged his supporters to exhibit same love shown him to former President John Dramani Mahama at the 2020 polls reiterating that as far as the parliamentary seat is concerned it was a forgone conclusion.

“This should contribute significantly to President Mahama’s success in the Presidential election. As for the parliamentary election, it’s a matter of conclusion as I need a single vote which I am assured of in order to beat any potential NPP candidate.” He said.

The Tamale South lawmaker promised to turn the constituency to the Manhyia of Northern Region where votes will determine who wins the presidency in future elections.
