Mafia tactics of Wontumi, others should be blamed for my exit from NPP primaries – NPP MP

“Mafia tactics of the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwo Boasiako and his cohorts should be blamed for my premature exit from the parliamentary primaries of the party”, the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for the Fomena Constituency in the Adansi North District of the Ashanti Region, Lawyer Andrew Amoako Asiamah has said.

According to him, he has withdrawn from the upcoming New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary primaries in the constituency, because of unfair treatment from the regional chairman of the NPP and his constituency executive.

In a statement announcing his forced withdrawal from the contest, Mr Amoako Asiamah stated that the Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, known widely as Chairman Wontumi and the Fomena Constituency Chairman, Kwasi Nti Asamoah, have  ganged up and subjected him to “unfair treatment” forcing him to resign.

“All attempts from my office seeking for redress have proved futile,” he mourned in his statement, fearing that “looking at the treatment meted unto me as an MP, I don’t know the skeletons these people may be hiding in the cupboard after they have successfully lured majority of the delegates in the constituency to frolicky and openly declare their support for a certain parliamentary candidate.”

Earlier this month Chairman of the Fomena Constituency, Akwasi Anti Asamoah, led the executive of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Fomena Constituency and 300 delegates to declare support   for Philip Ofori Asante a.k.a POFA, who is contesting the primaries as the upcoming Parliamentary Primary in April.
