First deputy speaker of Parliament and Member of Parliament for Bekwai constituency in the Ashanti region Hon. Joseph Osei-Wusu has stated that he is not afraid to be contested in the upcoming NPP parliamentary candidate primaries as been speculated.
According to him, he has contested series of political position race hence now fearless in any political contest.
Speaking in an exclusive interview on Otec FM’s afternoon political talk show dubbed ‘DWABEREM’ on Wednesday April 29, 2020, Hon. Osei-Wusu debunked rumours in the airwaves that he together with some leading Members of Parliament working behind scenes to make sure his challenger in the race of a Parliamentary candidate for the area, Lawyer Kwasi Amofa Agyeman is disqualified from contesting him.
He revealed that the said Parliamentary candidate aspirant has never been part of the party in the Bekwai constituency neither has he done anything to support the party and therefore has no grounds to contest in the Bekwai Parliamentary candidature race.
He stated that if someone has not worked for and being part of a constituency for sometime, the party’s constitution automatically disqualified such person which his contender (Lawyer Amofa Agyeman) is a victim.
“How can you contest as a Parliamentary candidate aspirant in a constituency where you have never been part of? That alone should tell you are not qualified to contest” he told the programme host with Prince Nii Ade (Dr. Cash).
