The Inter-party Coalition in Defense of National Sovereignty, organizers of the “aagbe wↄ” demonstration in Accra say they have picked information that some personnel within the Akufo-Addo government are trying to disrupt the protest.

A statement by the organizers said “we are alarmed at this development owing to the illegal status of the said group of bandits and their exceptionally violent methods.”
They said they viewed the move as a declaration of war against them.
The organizers, made up of almost all the opposition parties in the country vowed to effect the arrest of any one they find to be acting supposedly as security official, other than the Ghana Police Service.

“The Coalition recognizes only personnel of the Ghana Police Service as the accredited security officials with locus to ensure law and order at the demonstration,” the statement from the organizers said.

The Inter-party Coalition in Defense of National Sovereignty, has received with grave concern, information to the effect that elements within the Akufo-Addo government are planning to deploy the same state-sponsored thugs who brutalized innocent citizens at the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election last Saturday,at our ‘AAGBE W)’ demonstration slated for Thursday,7th February,2019.
We are alarmed at this development owing to the illegal status of the said group of bandits and their exceptionally violent methods.
We call on President Akufo-Addo to halt any such deployment of these armed gangs as it would in our view amount to a declaration of war on peaceful demonstrators.
The Inter-party Coalition in Defense of National Sovereignty, considers these bandits as criminals operating outside of the mainstream law enforcement architecture.
We wish to serve notice therefore, that our members embarking on the demonstration on Thursday, will effect citizens’ arrest of members of the state-sponsored terrorist group who show up and hand them over to the law enforcement agencies.

The Coalition recognizes only personnel of the Ghana Police Service as the accredited security officials with locus to ensure law and order at the demonstration.
The Coalition urges all peace-loving Ghanaians to join the demonstration in order to send a clear signal to the Akufo-Addo government, that there is no room for state-sponsored terrorism of any sort under the current democratic dispensation and that Ghanaians are prepared to rise to the occasion to resist the fear and terror that these criminals seek to inflict on Ghanaians on behalf of their sponsors.

About the demonstration
The organisers say the demonstration is geared towards putting pressure on government to take urgent steps to ensure that citizens are safe.
The demonstration, which is being convened by the National Chairman of the People’s National Convention (PNC), Bernard Mornah comes after some armed uniformed personnel attacked citizens at a polling station during last Thursday’s by-election in the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency.
Bernard Mornah in a Citi News interview said they have obtained all the necessary clearance from the police to stage a peaceful demonstration.

“People without political affiliation will join. Fortunately, we’ve had discussions with the Ghana Police and we have reaffirmed our commitment to embark on a peace full and non-violent demonstration throughout the principles streets of Accra,” he said.

The demonstrators will present petitions to the Minister for the Interior, Ambrose Dery; Inspector General of Police, David Asante Appeatu; and the President, Nana Akufo-Addo.
