Some branch executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Yilo Krobo constituency of the Eastern region are accusing the party’s national chairman, Mr Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo of masterminding the disqualification of Albert Tetteh Nyarkotey, one of three parliamentary aspirants in the constituency.

According to the group, Mr Ofosu-Ampofo schemed with the regional executives to deliberately disqualify Mr Nyarkotey in favour of his ‘darling boy’, one Michael Ologo.

Protesting the decision by the party at a news conference in Somanya on Wednesday, Desmond Djabadey, branch Chairman for Nkurakan Presby ‘B’ warned the party of dire consequences if they fail to rescind their decision.

“His exclusion from the party’s primary scheduled for August 24 this year came as a surprise to many of us who had declared our unflinching support for his candidature and their reason for the disqualification is baseless and not convincing enough.

“A branch executive member accused him of not serving and contributing to the welfare of the party but we believe it is the party’s national chairman, Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo subtly working to give Mr Ologo, who serves as the Managing Director of Mr Ofosu-Ampofo’s group of companies an unfair advantage,” they added.

Meanwhile, the party has cleared former Municipal Chief Executive, Andrew Soda and Mr Ologo to battle it out in the upcoming primary scheduled for August 24, 2019.
