Members of Film Producers Association of Ghana (FIPAG) have threatened to embark on series of demonstrations against the creative arts minister and President Akuffo Addo’s administration over the relocation of Film Village to Sekyere.

The construction of the controversial film village has been relocated from Kunsu in the Ahafo Ano South District to Sekyere in the Sekyere East District of the Ashanti Region.

It would recalled that scores of Producers, actors and actresses from the Ashanti Region on Wednesday, 24 July 2019 petitioned Ghana’s parliament to ensure that the Film Village is built in Kumasi, the hub of Ghanaian movies (Kumawood) rather the Kyebi, Eastern Region.

FIPAG members who are agitating against the relocation of the film village from Kunsu to Sekyere are
Mawuli Ekpe Peter (Fipag National PRO)
Mr Samuel Nyamekyie
(Miracle Films)
Isaac Ofori Brempong
(K. Obuorba Production), Nana Yaw Kusi
(Nayak Films),

The National PRO of Film Producers Association of Ghana Mawuli Ekpe Peter (Abro) expressing their grievances in an interview with the host of OTEC Fm’s entertainment show ANOKYEKROM, Miss. Linda Oppong
said, FIPAG members will not allow the Minister or government to relocate the construction of the film village from Kunsu to Sekyere.

According to him, Government assured them that, they will build the film village at Kunsu”.

“The Chief of Kunsu Nana Agyemang Badu Dua I who is also a Producer and registered Fipag Member offered 300 acres of land to government and FIPAG for the construction of film village. All FIPAG members including actors and actresses knows that, government will construct the film village in Kunsu not Sekyere” National FIPAG PRO revealed.

He explained that “We asked the Creative Arts Minister Hon Barbara Oteng Gyasi recently at the Golden been hotel (Kumasi) and she informed us that the construction of the film village has been relocated from Kunsu to Sekyere”.

“We (FIPAG MEMBERS) are not happy with government’s decision to relocate the construction of the film village from Kunsu to Sekyere. Apart from Kunsu, we are not going to allow government to construct the film village in any part of Ghana unless government wants to do more Film village’s. We are the industry players and we know where the film village will be good for us. Government should listen to ur concerns to make the construction of the film village useful”.

Meanwhile some members of Film Producers Association of Ghana (FIPAG) have threatened to welcome minister of Creative Arts Hon Barbara Oteng Gyasi to Ashanti regional capital kumasi on Friday September 18, 2020 with massive demonstration.

It will be unfair for the creative arts Minister to change what President Nana Addo has agreed to do for Fipag, he said.

We are not against the Minister and her government but she should understand that,we know and understands the making of films more than her so as location’s for shooting our projects.

I will go to the minister’s constituency and campaign for her to win again come 2020 if she goes our line, Abro said.
