Highlife musician, Rex Omar has revealed that he stopped going to church since 1997 because his body is the temple of God and he has direct contact to his Maker.
Speaking on the Delay Show on Sunday, April 28, Rex Omar told host Deloris Frimpong-Manso that, “I was born into a Christian home but I had to stop along the line.
“I stopped attending Assemblies of God Church since 1997 because I have a direct contact to God. I believe in God and love him so much but church is not my thing for now.”

According to him, he would have been a hypocrite if he had continued going to church.

“There is hypocrisy in the church. People go to church for different reasons and I don’t like the fact that Christians are being brainwashed. The church makes you narrow minded in thinking,” he said.
He said that there are a lot of unanswered questions that needed answers when it comes to Christianity including why the first 18 years of Jesus Christ’s life was not documented in the Bible.
Despite his questions, he said he knows there is one true God and he loves Him so much.

When Delay asked the kind of Christian training he gives his children, Rex Omar said he allows them the freedom to worship at any place of their choice.

Away from the religious issues, Rex Omar admitted that his hit song ‘Abiba’ is profane and he intentionally wrote it.
“I released a lot of good songs back then but no one was giving me the attention so I had to sing profane and it went down well with Ghanaians,” he stated.

He said there was nothing wrong with profane songs, especially ‘Abiba’ because he was referring to his wife.
“There is nothing wrong when you sing profane about your wife. It’s just like a painter painting his naked wife. There is nothing wrong with that,” he said.

Contrary to the perception that he is a difficult person, Rex Omar said people who are close to him knows that he is a cool person.
“I don’t conform to what people want me to do that is why people think I am difficult but I am not. I am unique and an independent thinker and no one can force me to be what I am not,” he added.
A former number of Nakorex, Rex Omar is known for songs like ‘Dada Di Da,’ ‘Dangerous’, ‘Konka’, ‘Come Back’, ‘Tokota’, ‘Lady and Who Am I’.
