The Ashanti Regional Minister Hon. Simon Osei Mensah has sent his warmly wishes to the Asante Kotoko football club as they are preparing  to compete with San-pedro this coming Sunday at the Baba Yara sports stadium in the Ashanti regional capital, Kumasi.

The Porcupine Warriors-Kumasi Asante Kotoko Football Club, are set to battle their West African neighbours, San-Pedro, for a place in the group stage of the continental championship, the CAF Confederation Cup at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, this Sunday, 27th October, 2019.

According to a statement sighted by.brightwebtv.com reads that ,  “on behalf of the Ashanti Regional Co-ordinating Council, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, and on my own behalf, I wish to congratulate Kumasi Asante Kotoko FC, for their participation in the prestigious continental tournament”.

The first leg encounter is slated for this coming Sunday, and the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council is  beaming with confidence that the Porcupine Warriors will make Asanteman and all football enthusiasts proud.

Knowing the threat that San-Pedro poses coming from a power house in African football, the minister strongly believes that with the kind of preparations made so far by Kumasi Asante Kotoko, coupled with the experience gained from the CAF Champions League, noting but absolute victory is for Kotoko to take.

For some time now, the glory of Asanteman as a Football Hub has gradually being restored with the Club’s participation in competitive football in Africa in spite of the fact that Ghana’s football has taken a nose dive.

He therefore entreated all Ghanaians, both supporters and non-supporters, to rally behind Kumasi Asante Kotoko- the only team representing Ghana on the international stage, this weekend as they fly high the flag of Ghana.

This is a critical point for us all as a nation, and it is necessary that we make unity and oneness our watchwords to take the country out of its football crisis, he reiterated.

“It is my strongest conviction that the unity in the spirit of Porcipine Warriors will be resurrected this weekend as we anticipate a massive win for the team to make the second leg a done deal”, he added.

While supporters are encouraged to be at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in their numbers, he therefore wish to strongly caution them to be decorous in their actions and avoid all unruly behaviors so as not to incur the wrath of CAF.

He assured  the teaming supporters the adequate security arrangements that have been provided, and that supporters should feel free and give their maximum support to ensure a victory for Kotoko.

He therefore on behalf of the Ashanti Regional Co-ordinating Council and on his own behalf  wish Kumasi Asante Kotoko FC the very best as they make the region and the entire nation proud.
