Felix Annan – 8.5
Another typically good show from the team’s most consistent player in Africa. It was clear from the onset that he craved the clean sheet. The way he constantly barked at his defence even at 3-0 was good to see.

Augustine Sefah – 8
Assured throughout the game. Loved how he conducted himself even under pressure at right back. He quietly initiated attacks from his end, too. Note how he had learned lessons from Kotoko not dealing with Freddy Tshimenga last week.

Daniel Darkwah – 9
Harrison Chisala was the man detailed to pressure Kotoko down Nkana’s right. On any other day, putting Darkwah against the experienced Zambian might have been dangerous. Today, even the combo of Chisala and right-back Gift Zulu could not phase the young man. Massive props to CK for blind-siding everyone with this. Probably Kotoko’s best player on the day.
Abdul Ganiyu – 8
Last week, paired with Agyemang Badu, lots of fans had issues. Today, at CB with Wahab Adams, they handled themselves with calmness. The argument can be made that the defensive midfielders were more effective today than they were in Zambia.

Wahab Adams – 8
A debut in Africa to remember and made a serious statement to be a starter. He did not allow any doubt about his competence. Will be interesting to note what CB pair CK will prefer against Al Hilal next week.
Umar Bashiru – 6

Something about his performance did not excite me. Either that or the man beside him – Kwame Bonsu – overshadowed him. He did enough for the team, however. And that’s ok.
Emmanuel Gyamfi – 7
Difficult to objectively grade him as he didn’t spend too much time on the field.before his goal, and injury after 23 minutes. But in that time, he didn’t put a foot wrong. His brief was to be quickest into balls second balls or make himself available from wide areas. One such attempt led to the goal.

Kwame Bonsu – 8
Superlatives will be needed here. Stupendous performance. This guy plays everything like he has something to prove. On this form, I would repeat my wish that Kwesi Appiah seriously consider him for the AFCON squad. First, to every ball, my only complaint is that once awhile he is ponderous, releasing teammates in space a second too late at times.
Fatawu Mohammed – 8.5
He may have seemed limited in his all-action displays. But he did what he was told to do – to help in attack and be the first point of defense. And that’s why I give him this mark. Made sure Yacouba could focus on operating as far forward as possible. This was key, because it meant the Zambian defenders could not initiate attacks as often as they wanted.
Martin Antwi – 7
He was just fine. Not his usually boisterous self, and needed Darkwah behind him to do a lot of mopping up, else Kotoko would have leaked from that side. The team performance covered his quiet game.
Songne Yacouba – 8
Once again, I’m more impressed by his team contributions than his specific role as a striker. His value is in how he draws the opposition for others to thrive. Today, also, he seemed more sure in front of goal. He may not have scored, but the threat he posed to Ivorian defender Adama Bahn and Moses Nyondo was clear.
Substitute
Kwame Boahene – 6
Didn’t notice him much after he came on for Gyamfi. Wasn’t as good and could not click into the team chemistry throughout. Just decent.
