Out of a total of 43 districts in the Ashanti region, 25 districts and municipals have reported COVID-19 cases. We have new infections but the good news is that the new infections are going down in all the districts in the region especially Obuasi,” Dr Tenkorang stated.

Speaking on cases at Obuasi, he said 587 cases have been recorded in the area.

Dr Tenkorang, said the Obuasi Municipality has 381 cases while Obuasi East has 206 cases.

A man, he said who was having the disease and was operating around Obuasi market area was the reason the disease spread.

But Dr Tenkorang, said the cases have now reduced in Obuasi.

Dr Tenkorang also bemoaned stigmatisation, fear and discrimination in the region especially Obuasi.

He noted that some people have stopped selling to people from Obuasi because of the disease.

He cautioned persons within the region to stop the stigmatisation, fear and discrimination as it will be difficult to fight the disease with such attitudes.
