Thousands of enthusiastic customers of ASA Savings and Loans Limited have benefitted from a free Breast Cancer Education and screening exercise organized by Association for Social Advancement (ASA) in collaboration of Christ Soteria Clinic Limited at Kwadaso, in the Kumasi Metropolis of the Ashanti Region.
The free screening formed part of the activities marking Breast Cancer Awareness Month (October) which has been cited as Cancer Awareness Month.
Addressing the participants, who numbered over five hundred, including their customers and the general public, the Regional Manager for ASA Mr. Francis Agyemang, said it was important to integrate the women into the campaign against breast cancer because in his words, “they are vulnerable .”
The event, in character, was preceded with a lecture by Rev.Dr. Antwi Boasiako, the CEO for Christ Soteria Clinic Limited on the signs, symptoms, risk factors, methods of investigation and finally, the available treatment options for breast cancer patients.
The medical team demonstrated to the students, the proper ways of performing breast self-examination.
Rev.Dr. Antwi Boasiako addressed several frequently asked questions and stressed that early detection was key to treatment and cure, and warned “delay in reporting to hospitals with late, and end-stage conditions could have catastrophic results”.
