Fire fighting is a collective responsibility -fire officer tells.

The Kumasi Metro Fire Safety Officer who doubles as the public relations officer (PRO) for the Adum Unit, Assistant Divisional Officer Grade 1,Dominic Zackey has called on Ghanaians to work collectively with the Ghana National Fire Service to prevent fire outbreaks in the country.

According to him,the prevention of fire outbreaks should start from various homes by putting safety measures in place such as making sure the wiring system of houses are in good condition, switching of sockets and all electrical appliances whenever we go out of the house,take care of the gas cylinders we use in various houses,etc.

Zackey added that,most Ghanaians do not seek for fire education whenever they want to build a house and entreated the general public on the need to seek for fire advice when building a house.

He made this call at the Asafo palace when Acheamfour Asafo Boakye Agyemang Bonsu, Otumfuor Akwamihene, invite the Adum Unit to educate his people on how they can prevent fire outbreaks and how to deal with it when the unwanted happens unexpectedly.

The Otumfuor Akwamuhene,invited them amidst the Asante Kingdom celebration of the Awukudae(Adae t)kyee) that was celebrated on the 24th day of May,2023.

Awukudae is a festival that is celebrated by the people of the Asante Kingdom on the count of every forty days where the monarchical heads within the Kingdom led by the Otumfuor Osei Tutu ll,the Asantehene celebrate to pray to their ancestors to ask for protection and development,just like Akwasidae.
