The Eastern Regional Director of the Ghana Health Service (GHS), Dr Alberta Britwum Nyarko, has allayed fears that the two persons who tested positive to COVID-19 in the Akwapim North Municipality could have passed on the infection to more people in area.

Her comments come after a 59-year-old female and another 45-year-old female, who returned to the country from London and Holland on March 20 and March 19, respectively tested positive to Coronavirus.

While assuring that the victims may not had contacts with many more people since they were traced and quarantined upon their arrival, the Health Director said healthcare officials in the region have been able to trace and taken the samples of about eight people awaiting their results from Noguchi Memorial Institute for medical research.

The Eastern Region has recorded 51 positive cases, becoming the region with the third highest number of COVID-19 positive cases after Greater Accra and Ashanti
