Jordan Ayew captained the Black Stars
A last-minute header that found the back of the Ghanaian net has delayed the Black Stars’ qualification to next year’s AFCON, as Sudan beat Ghana by a lone goal on home soil on Tuesday, 17 November 2020 in the ongoing AFCON qualifiers.
Mohammed Abdul Rahman jumped higher over the Ghanaian defence to connect a cross from the right-wing in injury time to secure the maximum three points for Sudan in the second leg, after Ghana beat the North Africans 2-0 in the first leg at the Cape Coast stadium.
The Stars played without their captain Andre Ayew and key player Thomas Partey.
Richard Ofori was also missing at post and replaced by veteran Fatau Dauda.
The defeat means Ghana will have to wait for their next game against Sao Tome in Cape Coast, where a win will secure them a qualification to Cameroon 2021.
