Black Stars head coach Kwasi Appiah has said his team’s defeat to Namibia in a pre-Afcon friendly game yesterday did not come as a surprised to him.
Ghana fell to a 1-0 defeat to the Southern Africans in Dubai yesterday where the team has been camping for AFCON 2019 since June 1.
Mubarak Wakaso missed a penalty.
Appiah is expected to submit his 23 man squad for the tournament by the end of tomorrow June 11 and will need to drop 5 of the 28 players he has in camp at the moment.
“It wasn’t a surprise at all that we lost. We had been loading them with some heavy training so I thought they were a little bit heavy.
“But Namibia are not minnows themselves. In African football, these days there are no minnows.
“But the essence was to see which players I will select to be part of the final 23 and I think the game gave some of the players a good opportunity to prove themselves,” Appiah said.
