NC Special Cup Report: Bechem United 1-1 Asante Kotoko – Magical Abdul Fatawu saves Porcupine Warriors again from defeat

Coach CK Akonnor’s side managed to pick a vital away point in the match-day five of the GFA Normalization Committee Special Cup on Sunday.

Asante Kotoko held Bechem United to a 1-1 away draw at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park.

 

The Porcupine Warriors could be found guilty for not opening the score in the first ten minutes of the match with the chances created.

 

In-form Abdul Fatawu Safiu failed to give the visitors the lead in the 5th and 7th minute of the match.

 

Youngster Kwadwo Asamoah fetched the opener for the Hunters lads with his goal on the 24th minute of the match.

 

Bechem United gained possession to outplay Kotoko in the mid of the first half but the solid back line of the ‘Kum Apem’ lads prevented them from extending the lead.

 

On the 39th minute, Stephen Nyarko wasted a goal glaring opportunity which could have ended the first department in a one-draw.

 

The first half ended in a 1-0 lead in favor of Bechem United.

 

After recess, Asante Kotoko outplayed the hosts with fearsome attacks launched which resulted the leveller.

 

Coach CK Akonnor replaced Prince Acquah with  Emmanuel Gyamfi on the 46th minute.

 

Striker Abdul Fatawu Safiu snatched the equaliser with a beautiful finish on the 70th minute of the game.

 

The two teams failed to score more goals as the match ended in a 1-1 stalemate.
