Ghana’s all-time leading scorer Asamoah Gyan has announced his retirement from the Black Stars with 32 days to the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
The 33 year old decided to call time on his national team career after it was reported that Coach Kwesi Appiah was set to name Andre Ayew as the new captain of Black Stars ahead of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
A grapevine source informed FootballMadeInGhana.com that a furious Gyan confronted Kwesi Appiah over the matter which resulted in a serious altercation.
Following the latest development, the striker took to official twitter account to make the announcement.
Gyan remains Ghana’s all-time top scorer with 51 goals from 106 international games.
