National Democratic Congress (NDC) delegates at the Assin South constituency are angry over GHc10 allowance given them by the party’s executives in the constituency.

The amount, according to Adom News reporter, Alfred Amoh, was meant to take care of delegates’ food and transportation at the ongoing presidential primaries which is underway across the country.

The angry delegates who are mostly farmers, Alfred reported, have said they would have been better off going to their farms than be given GHC 10 transport fares which also include their feeding.

Assin South is a farming community and today being a Saturday, we could have made more than GHc10 from selling our products from the market. We have come to endorse a particular candidate so why do we have to waste money to get here and be given this amount of money for food and transportation,” an angry delegate asked.

About 983 delegates from 105 branches are expected to vote in the constituency.

Seven members of the NDC are vying for the single slot to battle the ruling New Patriotic Party in the 2020 elections.

Those involved are former president John Mahama, Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament Alban Kingsford Sumani Bagbin, former Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, former Vice Chancellor of University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), Prof. Joshua Alabi.

There are also former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Mr Sylvester Mensah, a cadre, Mr Goosie Tanoh and businessman, Alhaji Nurideen Iddrisu.
