The call comes on the back of the killing of two people after protesters clashed with security personnel on Tuesday.
Addressing the media after visiting families of the deceased persons in Ejura, Sammy Gyamfi, communications officer of the NDC, described the incident as “state-sponsored.”
“… MCE cannot continue to be in office and it is important that with immediate effect, he is dismissed, arrested and prosecuted. Aside that, the police commander for Ejura, the military commander who was responsible for the mindless deployment that caused the death of Nasiru and Mohammed Murtala must be immediately interdicted, prosecuted and punished in accordance with law,” Gyamfi added.

Arrests
Kaaka, 45, was reportedly attacked by unknown people in Ejura in the small hours of Sunday (27 June).
He died on Monday afternoon (28 June) at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi, where he was receiving treatment.
At least two suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder.
The suspects – Ibrahim Issaka and Fuseini Alhassan were picked up Monday evening in response to police intelligence.

Speaking to reporters in Kumasi, the Ashanti regional spokesman for the Ghana Police Service, Assistant Superintendent Godwin Ahianyo, said that Kaaka was ambushed by two men in front of his house on returning home at roughly 1.30am on Sunday.
“This morning we would like to inform the general public that the regional command has arrested two suspects in the attack and murder of Ibrahim Mohammed, alias Kaaka, aged 45,” he said.
“The suspects are Ibrahim Issaka, alias Anyaas, and Fuseini Alhassan, currently in custody. Both were arrested at about 10.45pm on Monday 28 June 2021 following police intelligence,” ASP Ahianyo announced.
