First Lady Launches Mentorship Program for Young Girls

The First Lady of Ghana, as part of efforts to groom young women and girls across the country, has today held interactions with a number of women in positions of power and influence in the country.




Organised under the, “Because I want to be” initiative of the Rebecca Foundation, the meeting provided the glorious opportunity for young girls, drawn from a number of schools and communities to meet with top women business leaders and women leaders in other fields to be mentored on how the path to progress.

As part of the program, the mentors visited the young girls in their schools to introduce them to the program and familiarize.




The First Lady, Mrs Akufo- Addo at the meeting today, moderated discussions on the need to push for postive change in the lives of young underprivileged girls in society.

According to her, you don’t need to be “big” to make an impact in society.

Don’t look far or wide, just look around your neighborhood and you find always find something not right that you can impact and help correct.




Oriented with the full appreciation on the need to encourage these girls to maximise the full extents of their potential, the Mentors pledged their ultimate commitment to the success of the programme.



This move forms part of activities scheduled to mark this year’s International Womens’ Day.

First Lady, Mrs. Akufo-Addo expeessed gratitudel to the mentors for accepting the challenge.

“I am confident about the prospects for success and the social change this initiative would cause and urge our utmost commitment and resolve by all parties towards ensuring that it succeeds.” She intimated.
