The Ghana Armed Forces has denied media reports that some of its officers were involved in an an exercise to remove members of an alleged militia group from the Osu Castle.

A statement signed by the Director of Public Relations, Colonel E. Aggrey Quashie on Saturday said the Ghana Armed Forces “has not deployed any soldier to the Osu Castle for the stated purpose.”

Following a video documentary produced by Joy FM’s Manaseh Azure Awuni that showed a group of young men and women alleged to be members of a private militia group, De-Eye training and allegedly working in the interest of the governing New Patriotic Party from the Osu Castle, there were reports that the government has moved in to clear the individuals there.
According to the report, some offcials from the Jubilee House moved in on Friday to close down offices of the group and asked the individuals there to leave.
But according to the Armed Forces, the report that indicated that some soldiers were part of the officials from the Jubilee that went to clear the individuals from the Osu Castle is “completely false.”

The attention of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has been drawn to a Ghanaweb.com story with the above headline on Friday 8 March 2019. The story which was sourced from Myjoyonline.com alleged some officials from the Jubilee House in the company of soldiers have gone to lock up the offices of the De-Eye Group.
GAF wishes to state categorically that it has not deployed any soldier to the Osu Castle for the stated purpose. Indeed no soldier has been assigned to follow any official to the former seat of Government for such an activity. This allegation is completely false.
Once again, we wish to urge the media to be circumspect in their reportage on the GAF at all times. The office of the Director of Public Relations is always open to the media to cross check their stories before they put them out.
SIGNED
AGGREY QUASHIE
Colonel
Director Public Relations
Meanwhile, the government has denied the information contained the video documentary, describing it as misleading.
