MASLOC presents 83 buses to GPRTU to boost its operations

Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) Ghana, under the office of the President of Ghana, has presented 83 buses to The Ghana Private Road Transport Union, (GPRTU), to help boost its operations across the country.

This forms part of efforts by MASLOC to support small business holders and transport operators among others.

Presenting the buses, at the forecourt of the State House in Accra, the Chief Executive Officer, (CEO) of MASLOC Stephen Amoah said his outfit will continue to provide the needed financial assistance to Ghanaians as mandated by law.

Mr. Amoah said his outfit in recent times has embarked on several innovative methods aimed at improving their operations.

This he said includes the automation of integrated ICT system across the country ‘which is about 85 % complete, “a reduction in the turn around time for obtaining loans which has been reduced to about three weeks”.

Mr. Amoah said MASLOC has disbursed about GHC 60 million to people with about 70% disbursed to women. “Aside that the interest rate has been reduced by 50%, from 24% per annum to 12% per annum with over 65% recovery rate”.

According to the CEO, since assumption of office, his outfit in collaboration with stakeholders such as MDCE’s have set up over 200 offices across the country and also received both local and international awards for their outstanding performance.

He further commended the President and the Transport Ministry for supporting the Institution.

The Chairman of GPRTU, Kwame Kuma who received the buses expressed appreciation to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and MASLOC for supporting the Union with the buses to assist them in their operations.

He promised on behalf of the union to utilise the buses for its intended purposes and will ensure they are maintained well.

“We are grateful to the president, His excellency Nana Akufo-Addo, MASLOC, not forgetting the transport ministry for facilitating the purchase of these buses”. he said.
