N/R minister made caretaker minister of NE/R

 

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has appointed Northern Regional Minister Salifu Saeed as a caretaker minister of the newly-created North East Region until a substantive minister is appointed.

 

Nana Akufo-Addo made the announcement on Tuesday, 12 February 2019 at the Jubilee House when he presented Constitutional Instrument (C.I.) 116 for the North East Region to give the creation of the new region legal backing.

“I charge the hardworking minister of the Northern Region, Salifu Saeed to act as caretaker minister for the North East Region until a substantive minister is appointed,” Nana Akufo-Addo said at the ceremony which was witnessed by a delegation of chiefs and opinion leaders from the Northern Region.

Nana Akufo-Addo noted that “the government will make sure that the desire for growth, which was the underlying reason for the creation of the North East Region, is met.”

Meanwhile, Nalerigu has been chosen as the capital of the new region.
