Upper West: NDC Chairman gunned down by unknown assailants

Mr. Poulabong Bayiilela Richard, National Democratic Congress (NDC) chairman for the Dafiama Bussie Issa Constituency has been shot dead by unidentified persons, MyNewsGh.com has confirmed.

According to the police in the  Sissala East District of the Upper West Region, the incident occurred on Monday night beon the Wa-Tumu while  the deceased was returning from a funeral.

There is suspicion he was killed by armed robbers according to the Police Divisional Police Commander for the area DSP Stephen Abanga.
The body has since been deposited at the Upper West regional Hospital pending autopsy.

But some party sources including the  deputy director of elections in the region Osman Seidu are suspecting foul play in his death since he hails from the same constituency with the Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP)
“The NPP regional chairman is from that constituency and they are working very hard to take that constituency It’s a very big blow to the party and not only in the constituency but the region at large,” he added. ,” Seidu is quoted to have told dailymailgh.com that first broke the story.

Police have since commenced investigations into the incident.
