Make sure there’s accuracy in your reportage- Journalists charged

Journalists have been urged to ensure accuracy in their reportage whenever they get the opportunity to pass out information.

According to Rev. Fr. Richard Opoku Acheampong,the Parish Priest of Corpus Christi Roman Catholic Church at Krofrom in the Kumasi Metropolis of the Ashanti region,most people rely on the messages media houses pass across trusting them to be the mouth piece of the masses.

He further indicated that, any information passed across by journalists can arouse conflict among their audience therefore, he charged journalists to be careful with their words when on air.

The Parish Priest also charged journalists to ensure equity in their work.

Going forward,the P.P. called on all media houses across the country to give fair and equal grounds to every party especially in this year of general elections to avoid chaos.

Speaking to OTEC news, Sarkodie Samuel on February 13,2024,he lauded Ghanaian journalists for the efforts put in place to ensure that Ghanaians are provided with every information they need to improve their lives.

He also applauded media houses for introducing intervention programs which seek justice for those who are vulnerable,but entreated them to seek advice from the laws of the country in carrying out such course.

On the other hand, Rev. Father Richard Opoku Acheampong entreated the leadership of the journalists Association to regularly hold seminars to train workers in the fraternity.
