A/R: 2 collapsed,12 others sustain serious injuries as Mitsubishi pickup runs into trotro at IPT

Two people have collapsed whereas twelve others have sustained serious injuries as Mitsubishi pickup car run into a mini trotro ‘TD’ bus as called in Ghana at IPT in the Kwadaso Municipality of the Ashanti Region.

The trotro (TD) with registration number, AC 1269-17 was heading to Apatrapa-Pokukrom from Sofoline with fourteen passengers on board including the driver and his conductor (mate)

The Mitsubishi saloon car with registration number GC 531-20 was also heading to the environs of Abuakwa from Sofoline also in the Kwadaso Municipality of the Ashanti Region with only one person on board,thus the driver

Speaking to OTEC news, Sarkodie Samuel on January 29,2024,a passenger who was on board with the trotro indicated that the Mitsubishi pickup run into the trotro by crashing the back of the trotro in a very accelerating speed.

“Almost everybody in the trotro bus sustained an injury with two women collapsing at the spot”,he added.

According to him,the driver of the Mitsubishi pickup was drunk.

He further noted that the driver tried to run away after crashing down a police checkpoint barricades that was arranged in the road after realizing the presence of the police.

On his part Yeboah Francis,an eyewitness who sells at the traffic light told OTEC news that it took the intervention of the traffic light which shown red to stop the pickup driver from running away.

According to him the accident was very terrible, adding that one other lady who also sells at the traffic light also got injured.

He stated that the victims who sustained injuries were taken to the Seventh Day Adventist SDA hospital also in the the Municipality.

“The Techiman police command has since taken up the matter for investigations to commence”,he added.
