A/R: Suspected thief lynched at Suame – Maakro

A suspected thief has been lynched at Maakro in the Suame Municipality of the Ashanti Region.

The incident was said to have occurred around 3am this morning, March 12,2024.

The deceased identified as Kwame George popularly known as Kwaadei was said to have stolen a car battery which caused his death.

Kwame George according to reports was around the ages between forty(40) and forty-five.

Speaking to brightwebtv reporter, Sarkodie Samuel,a unit Committee member for the area,Madam Ernestina Amoah indicated that she got the information about the incident and had step in the the absence of the assembly member for the area.

A resident who pleaded anonymous noted that they heard dogs barking as at the time of the incident and his wife prompted him about human voices at the place of the incident.

“I tried to see what was happening through my window but couldn’t see from there and so rushed to the scene after hearing the deceased shouting “save me,save me”.

The lync mobs upon seeing me ran away,he said.

After noticing that the deceased identified as Kwame George had passed away,I put a call through to the Suame divisional police command to report what had happened”,he added.

Emmanuel Nyantakyi,a resident also revealed that he knows the deceased,Kwaadei from a town called Ahwerewam a suburb near Mankranso in the Ahafo Ano South East District of the Ashanti Region.

He stated that, George was a loading man at Techiman Station at Maakro.

Nyantakyi further stated that Kwame George was never married.

The Suame Divisional Police Command had taken the body to be deposited at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH’s) morgue.
